The church which is located beside the main winery building is dedicated to St Tryfonas, tutelar saint of wine makers. This saint is pictured in religious paintings as '' young, beardless, curly haired and holding a pruning hook''. He was connected with vineyards and wine because of his birth place which was a famous wine region. Saint Tryfonas was born in Lampsakos, coastal city of Frygia and died as a martyr in Nice of Bithynia. This area was very well known for vineyards as all the coast line of Propontida. The church celebrates every 1st of February because this month is considered as the most crucial in the annual vineyard cycle. It is the period of pruning. With this procedure which requires certain experience and knowledge the farmer is preparing the vineyard for quantity and quality needed to aim at a certain result.
